Learning Support Programs

Sunshine Harvester Program

The Sunshine Harvester Primary School Homework Club began in August 2013 and provides homework support for approximately 70 students from the school.

The club runs on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons after school and is supported by adult tutors from the community as well as peer tutors from secondary colleges, including Braybrook Secondary College, Caroline Chisholm Catholic College, Loyola College, Mt St Joseph’s Girls College, and Overnewton College.

The Homework Club is a vibrant, challenging and fun environment where students are given opportunities to complete set homework and workbooks, hear stories read aloud, occasionally sing together, play maths games, compete for prizes, go on local excursions to the library, play soccer with their tutors and attend special events, such as the trip to MSAC just before Christmas 2014.

Learning Support Programs

ERCRS runs two Learning Support Programs for primary school aged children, in Sunshine Harvester Primary and in Debney Meadows Primary School.

#1. Sunshine Harvester Primary

In partnership with Sunshine Harvester Primary School, ERCRS runs an after-school learning support program for children at the school in grades 3-6. Students work 1:1 and in small groups with tutors from local high schools Braybrook College and Caroline Chisholm Catholic College, as well as Mt St Josephs and Loyola College, and adult tutors from the community. As well as providing assistance with homework, we design and deliver student-specific supports, including art, sport, and individual and group literacy activities. Our partnerships with organisations including Arts Centre Melbourne, 100 Story Building, and Melbourne Victory mean that we can offer students enriching extracurricular opportunities that they might not otherwise be able to access.

#2. Debney Meadows Learning Support Program

In partnership with Debney Meadows Primary School and Department of Education and Training (DET), ERCRS deliver a tailored after-school HWC model that meets the specific needs of DMPS students and reinforces the learning being done in school.

ERCRS also offers Mothers group and Parents Programs, as well as opportunities for families to participate in wider community initiatives and activities, such as The Venny Inc in Kensington.

This program is currently on hold, please watch this space for details of its re-commencement.

Session times: 3pm – 4.30pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
